Program Overview:
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Training Program at Medipol Mega University Hospital offers a two-week observership and clinical experience tailored for doctors seeking advanced knowledge in the management of premature and critically ill newborns.

Participants will observe patient care practices across different levels of neonatal intensive care, participate in case discussions, and gain insight into neonatal resuscitation, ventilation strategies, nutrition, and biomedical monitoring.

This program is structured to provide real-world exposure to both the acute and supportive care of neonates in a modern, high-volume NICU environment.

Clinical Topics and Practical Exposure:

  • Postnatal Care of Newborns (Heel Lance, Vaccination)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) for Babies with Respiratory Failure
  • Management of Jaundiced Newborns
  • Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Observations:
    • Level III: Premature Infants (<1500 g), Intubation, Mechanical Ventilation
    • Level II: nCPAP Administration, Total Parenteral Nutrition, Nasogastric Feeding
    • Level I: Management of Dehydration and Mild Jaundice
  • Physical Examination and Assessment of Neonates
  • Drug Administration and Medication Safety in Neonates
  • Blood Transfusions in Newborns
  • Maintaining an Optimal Environment for Newborn Care
  • Biomedical Devices Utilization (Incubators, Monitors, Injection Pumps)
  • Oxygen Delivery Methods for Newborns

Educational Objectives

Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Observe and understand the management protocols for critically ill and premature newborns.
  • Gain exposure to neonatal resuscitation, ventilatory support methods, and nutritional management.
  • Develop familiarity with the operation of biomedical devices and safety protocols in NICU settings.

  • Duration: 2 Weeks
  • Training Language: English / Turkish
  • Training Schedule: Weekdays only (Monday–Friday)
  • Training Format: Theoretical sessions combined with Observership training
  • Certification: A Certificate of Completion will be issued by Medipol Mega University Hospital
